The Picture Post

Well I had a really great time today and was going to talk about it and then I found out my horse Eight Belles was euthanized after the race at Churchill Downs and decided out of respect to this sweet little filly not to talk about my horse racing fun today. Also I had three different fun picture posts built up, so I thought I would put them together. That first one is the Andy Warhol thing that Josie had. I used an old cheesecake picture of myself that was taken in New Orleans in the very early 90's. It was my first trip to New Orleans and pre-internet, so I did it the old-fashioned way: I called the Chamber of Commerce and asked them to send me information. I was with my second husband at the time and he was a real penny pincher, so we stayed at The Old World Inn. And it really was almost like a European hostel. No phone or TV and there was only a locked door between our bathroom and the bathroom of the two gassy Dutch guys. Ick. But that's where I met my buddy Billy (at the Inn not in the bathroom) from Essex and we exchanged Christmas cards for several years.

This is one that Ticknart had in January called "First Album" and I did it that day but I have no idea where I saved the picture, so I redid it tonight. The rules of making your first album cover are on this post.

Lastly, Happy Downtowner tagged me a month ago for this Make a Wish thing that you can find here. So "I Wish I Knew Everything" is MY wish and I guess I should explain it: If I knew EVERYTHING, I could cure all diseases, solve all the world's problems and make millions of dollars telling people how Marilyn Monroe died, who killed JFK, who really wrote To Kill a Mockingbird and what happened to Amelia Earhart.

Might be rather boring to be omniscient... there'd be no mystery left in your world. ;o)

You look stunning in that photo. Warhol would've loved you!!

Thanks for all the fun links; you know I'm going to try at least one of these! :)

Big Brother,
~~Yes, true, but it might be nice to have all the answers instead of all the questions.

Scarlet,
~~Yes, they were fun to do! Stunning? That's a word you don't hear often, thanks!

Josie,
~~Everybody is beautiful seventeen years ago!

Hello Geewits!
Know who you look like to me in that beautiful 17 year ago picture? Hold on to your hat...you look a lot like my mom looked when she was that age. It actually kind of surprised me to see such a resemblance. What a stunning picture, and you're still very pretty and from what I can tell very photogenic. I look goofy in most of my pictures, even pics from 17 years ago. Although I remember the secret you told me to taking good pictures, and I'll try that next time I get mine taken.

I read the news about Eight Belles. Kinda broke my heart.

My hubby's company is having a get together at Lone Star Park in June. I've only been to the horse races twice, but thoroughly enjoyed it both times and am looking forward to going again then.

Carole,
~~I'd like to see pictures of your Mom from then! If the races are a company thing you will probably be in a fancy suite. I've only done that at Louisiana Downs, but it was awesome!

Mark,
~~Two hotties? Ha! We are going to have so much fun and that's just 4 weeks away!

Sometimes I wish I knew everything too.

Isn't that Warhol thing fun? But, the question that begs is what really did happen to Amelia?

Josie is wrong, they'll throw stones at ME and adore you and Josie!

I don't think I could ever believe that someone as cynical and wild and self-centered as Truman Capote could have written To Kill a Mockingbird.

That Warhol one is great...I'm with Josie - too pretty to keep company with. Hey, maybe that's my problem with men. I'm too pretty! HAH!!! Love the other ones too.

Jazz,
~~If we both did, I wonder what we'd talk about?

Ian,
~~When my wish is granted, I'll phone you and tell you, because I'll also know your phone number.

Tai,
~~Now I'm starting to rethink my trip, what with all these Canadians going around throwing rocks at people!

Ticknart,
~~I've always believed Harper Lee wrote that book.

Leslie,
~~I've never been too pretty for anything!

I am fascinated about 'who really wrote TO KILL A MOCKING BIRD...? Is that a joke? Gee, I hope so...lol! Because I have never heard any rumor that someone other than HARPER LEE wrote this Great book!

Incidentally, Sweetie did Soooo Well qith the Groomer that I would definitely do this again next year....It is not cheap but then, It is a "specialty" And my understanding is that Cats are much more difficult to do than dogs. I had a really hard time finding a Groomer who does Cats...!

Loooove the hair! Ohhhh these curls... to die for! My hair is thick and wavy and very unruly.

Ha! Vancouver, heck, Canada will never be the same after you visit!

I heard about Eight Belles, such a sad thing to happen.

Glad you got around to do the wish. And you have such good questions too. Let me know if you find the answers, who knows...

I'm going to try making the album cover; I've never had aspirations of being a rock star, but perhaps you've inspired a change of career... :)

Naomi,
~~There was always speculation that Truman Capote really wrote the book. According to Wikipedia, "The rumors were put to rest in 2006..." but it was part of the teaching of the book when I went to school in the 70's. The character "Dill" was based on Truman Capote and he and Harper Lee pretty much grew up together.

Sylvie,
~~It sounds like we have the same hair. I never know what I'm going to get from day to day and often it depends on the weather!

Kimber,
~~It was fun but I had to do my band name twice, because the first one I got was Whitney Houston! Ha!
