3 Things I Know For Sure

ONE: When Seals and Crofts sang "Summer Breeze" in 1972 they were not talking about daytime in North Texas. If you get a "breeze" here in the daytime it feels like when you pop open a hot oven to look at whatever you have baking in there. And it does not make you feel fine.
~
TWO: When Hoagy Carmichael and Johnny Mercer wrote "In the Cool, Cool, Cool, of the Evening" they, too, were not talking about North Texas in the summertime. The best you will get here (and it does not make for good song lyrics) is: the tolerable, tolerable, tolerable of the evening.
~
THREE: When fashion experts come on TV and say, "You can convert this simple summer day dress into evening wear by adding a classic jacket" they are not talking to women in North Texas. If you put a jacket on over your dress here in the summer you will die. Right after people laugh at you for being stupid.

I would not like North Texas. To the contrary of my sister Jazz, I am not partial to hot summers. A temperature of 20 degrees celsius (68F) is fine with me. I would fly north if I lived in Northern Texas.

Big Brother,
~~And I could not deal with ice and snow. Unless it was very humid. Dry and cold burns my skin.

Oh Boy! I couldn't take that kind of heat, ever...but now? No Way! I was in Dallas during the summer months many years ago and thought I was going to die, every time I left the Hotel. And that's not even the area you are talking about, is it?

Naomi,
~~That's EXACTLY where I am. I am just a few miles from Dallas county and live by the Dallas?Fort Worth Airport. It was like an oven wasn't it?

Funny. :)

I got in my truck the other day and the temp read 102. As much as my kids want to go to Disney World this summer, there's no way I'm standing in long lines in this heat.

We're four hours away...we can wait for November.

The weather here is hot, hotter, and the hottest yet. I laughed so hard at this post...until I had to step out my door to get my mail, then I wilted once again. Phew!

We are having, to my great delight - a perfectly underwhelming cool summer. When I hear of 3 digit temps, I want to crawl in bed under some cool sheets and let a fan gently blow over me, to remind of what summer should feel like. Gentle and soft.
(I always want to crawl into bed when I hear of anything unpleasant)

Yeah well BB must be happy with the weather this summer. It's cold and rainy all the time.

I could do with a bit of hot about now.

Carole,
~~That's why I leave the mail for my husband!

Violetsky,
~~That's interesting. When I think of unpleasant things, I jump OUT of bed.

Jazz,
~~Funny that two people with similar genes would be so different about that.
