Well I was all fired up to post about Oprah Winfrey doing something crazy when, in fact, it was a case of mistaken identity.
Her show today was about the movie The Great Debaters. Denzel Washington directs and stars in it and it was produced by Oprah. I saw a clip and the part of some sort of sheriff was being played by the guy on the right, Eric Kelly McFarland. I thought I was looking at the guy on the left, John Heard. John Heard has a bad history when it comes to how he treats women. So all I could think was WHY would Oprah put this guy on a payroll with her name at the top? Well she didn't and now I have nothing to post about. But I am glad it wasn't John Heard.

I don't know John personaly, but I am really a nice guy.

Don't worry Geewits... it would be easy to get them mixed up. There really is a resemblance... John Heard looks like a chubbier version of Eric McFarland, at least on the pictures posted.
i did watch this particular oprah show because denzel was on it, but i never heard of john heard before. hmmm, do you think that's really eric at the top here?
You could have kept talking about Oprah. She stirs up some pretty passionate feelings in people. Lots of people think she's the second coming. Personally, I think she's a big fraud, but hey... whatever makes you happy, right?
Okay, "Eric," I believe you.
Big Brother,
~~Actually John Heard has gained some weight and looks almost exactly like the other guy.
HC,
~~He was the dad in the Home Alone movies and had a recurring role on "The Sopranos" as a bad cop.
UP,
~~If she HAD cast John Heard, I would have seriously had my doubts about her, but I like her for the most part. She's the one who inspired me to do Meals on Wheels.
Oh and If that really is Mr. McFarland up there, he must have googled himself and read every page because this shows up on page 3.
Um.. actually BB, McFarland looks like a chubbier version of Heard!
See Geewits, even my brother is mixed up on this one. Course, he's easy to mix up anyway, but that's a whole other kettle of fish.
Are you starting to go all Josie on us with the perfect look alikes that I neve see until they're pointed out?
Jazz,
~~I didn't realize Heard had a look alike. Poor guy, who wants to look like a wife beater, no, I meant alleged wife beater?
Geewits, Oops a bit of dyslexia there...
As for you Jazz, just watch the snide remarks lil sister, Xamas is coming and if you aren't nice to your big bro you'll get coal in your stocking. ;o)
Hey, Geewits, you could have done a separated at birth with these two. Holy smoke!
I used to like John Heard, until I heard (heh) he was a mysogynist.
As for Oprah, you could still do a whole post on her and her self-agrandizing.
Big Brother,
~~Being a somewhat dyslexic spooneristic person myself I totally got your meaning.
Josie,
~~When I saw the movie clip, I went , "John Heard? John Heard?!?" I really thought it was him. No, I won't bash Oprah. I kind of like her. As for her self-aggrandizing, I think that's her defense mechanism. She was so poor and now has a billion dollars and feels like she has to account for that. She feels guilty and well, probably just weirded out about it. I would.
Bloated, balloon-like version. Maybe he's hormonal and retaining water? :)
I didn't say that "AWAY FROM HER" would not be up for an Oscar, I said I cannot believe that Julie Christie would not be nominated for the Oscar....Meaning...I believe she WILL be nominated. It was released in theatres, in New York & Los Angles, back in May of 2007, so it is eligible....I don't know anything about Sundance, but it definitely played in Theatres in those two major cities and for all I know, other cities, too....It is now on DVD...That is how I saw it.
Do you know for a fact that John Heard is a "wife beater"?? When was that? And if someone has changed, do they not get a second chance? Just wondering about this.
Jammie,
~~I think Mr. McFarland is just heavy, but John Heard actually looks bloated. That IMDB picture is probably old. He looked bloated on "The Sopranos."
Naomi,
~~If you click on the highlighted parts in my post they take you to the information about the charges against him. I DO believe people can change, but I have a personal dislike of men who abuse women. It means they are weak, insecure and lack self-control. It was 10 years ago. I would love to think he "got it together."
There is a slight resemblence. As for Oprah producing movies, she got it all wrong with the Richard Wright adaptation ("Native Son"). Maybe she should stick to politics.
I don't believe everything I read, but that first guy has an arrogant air about him. "The good guy" looks jolly and more approachable, like a teddy bear. I'm glad you didn't go off on Oprah; I really like her and I trust she would do the right thing.
JR,
~~I didn't see that one but I remember Beloved was a bomb.
Scarlet,
~~It's not a matter of believing what you read. He had his day in court. It's on public record. Court documents. Court documents are not fiction. Oh, duh, you're in that field, so you know that.
