I Am An Official Old Lady

I always said I'd never be one of those old ladies that buys a little tree that you put on a table. Guess what? Yep. I bought one of those little trees you put on a table. What happened was, I just wasn't getting into the whole rearranging of furniture to put up a tree that I would have to keep watering and sweeping up needles from. Oops, I ended a sentence with a preposition. I meant: sweeping up needles from hell that never stop. I got a great deal - $18 for the floor sample. I thought I'd take off the white lights and put on my big glowy bulbs. Well, then what happened was, those white lights are attached to the tree by someone that never ever wants you to take them off. So I had to just deal with leaving them there and adding a string of my big glowy bulbs. And since it's so small I decided to just put our "Peanuts" ornaments, but I did sneak in 4 sentimental ornaments. And believe me, that's only about one fifth of the Snoopy ornaments. And I found a place to put all those surprise bears that came with "a purchase of three cards." I had no idea. The girl at the register was so excited and runs away and comes back with this armload of bears. I was all "What the hay am I gonna do with all those bears?" I decided to put them by the tree. (The set in back hides the cord.) It doesn't mean we will do this forever. If we feel like getting the big tree again, we will. But I'm an old lady now and I can have my little tree on the table.

I also delved into the Christmas card stuff. When I sit down to do my Christmas cards I am so happy that I don't have a lot of friends. I also made my annual goofy picture to go in with the card. My husband is on the left in the picture, but I had to cut him out for my blog. (His rules, not mine.) I found a picture of Santa holding two little kids and I put our heads on their bodies. It's a lot funnier if you could see the whole picture. Ask Josie if you don't believe me.
~
I also unpacked all the stuff I'm going to use for decoration so we can put the boxes back in the garage. I'm starting to get in the mood a little bit. Okay, well I was, and this horrible Christmas song just came on the radio that makes me want to do destructive things. Must change music. Okay. All is well. I put on my "Christmas with the Platters" CD, which always makes me happy.
~
In other news: I got my hair done yesterday, and it's kinda funky. It reminds me of Julia Roberts' wig in Hook or Sleeping With the Enemy, like it just doesn't fit my head quite right. And when I was ranting about yesterday, yesterday I forgot to write a letter to the cat that attacked me. Stupid cat!

What really caught my attention today was this headline:
Japanese Scientists Develop Fearless Mice
I, for one, would like to say that I believe this is truly one thing that we do not need.

I've never seen Julia Roberts w/ bad hair, so you probably look wonderful.

By the way, I just love that Christmas photo! LOL Can you put a pic of me on his o ther lap? :)

The tree looks festive! I love it!!

The horrible song, was it "Christmas Shoes"? The only thing that bugs me more than that song is the movie they made to go with it.

Scarlet,
~~How did you miss Julia with those bad short wigs? I could put you on Santa's lap if there is a forward facing photo of you. I'll check out your blog for one.

Ticknart,
~~I think it's called "Does Mary Know?" I'm not even Catholic and it seems blasphemous.

Well, you're a pretty 'glam' old lady. Let's see a photo of the Julia Roberts hair. That would be a nice treat. Anyway, you're better looking than she is to begin with. Too much mouth and teeth with her.

Geewits, that picture cracks me up, every time I look at it. You are too funny!

I think your tree looks very nice. It's kind of a little Charlie Brown tree. I love Charlie Brown trees. And you haven't ventured into little old ladihood yet.

Great tree, cute picture!

Fearless mice?? Wow, just when you thought the cure for cancer was important, eh?

Ian,
~~We will have to wait for a "good hair day" for a picture of the new hair.

Josie,
~~Yeah, I love all the Snoopy and Woodstock ornaments. I think it's a happy tree.

Tai,
~~Thanks! No kidding about the mice. At least it was Japanese scientists, meaning our tax dollars did not pay for that study. I hope.

Ooh, can't we see the new hair?

I howled at your Santa's lap photo, even without your husband's head.

You're not an old lady. Those little trees must actually be Young At Heart trees.

A little tree is a sign of old age? Oh, dear.... I've been old, then, since 24. :)

Great picture! Hilarious! That, in an of itself, is proof against your supposed 'old lady' status!

Jocelyn,
~~You are too sweet. The hair will have to wait, though.

Kimber,
~~Yeah, maybe if it were a silver tinsel tree? I am actually very childlike. I'm glad Josie has experience with her grandchildren.

BITE YOUR TONGUE, WOMAN! I too ended up with a table top tree this year, but it is to serve as a night light. I may be 10 years your senior but feel every bit of 26, thank you very much.

Then there was something you've said about a cat attacking :) I'm wearing a handsome pair of threadmarks from chin down my neck (some looks red enough that it may be infected) from the hind leg of my furry baby Ferko. He panicked and jumped off and his hind leg was giving him a bit of traction on my face?! Thanks kid.

Scientists and fearless mice. I caught the end of a report so I don't know what country but cloned cats that glow red in the dark :( These beautiful white furred cats, sure enough when the lights are turned off, their eyelids and mouth glows in the dark. They were bred for experimental purposes. :( People are very cruel.

Isadora,
~~We saw the glow in the dark cat thing on the news last night. Creepy!

I wondered how you were gonna solve your Christmas tree dilemma. Are you sure that's a tree on the table though, cuz I'm thinking it's a miniature christmas shrub! LOL -- just kidding.

I lurve the Santa picture. That's so awesome and creative. :)

geewits said...

Jammie,
~~Yes. From now on it will be called the official Christmas Shrub.

LOL, LOL...I must say, when I saw that News Story I thought to myself: WHY? What is that about? Yes, we really need Fearless mice!!! HELP!

Love that little tree...It is rather dear..I have had a little tree for a very veery VERY long time! I guess I became an ld lady, long before I actually became an old lady! I had as very dear friend who had a BEAUTIFUL Gift shop, and he made these small trees....they were all just as sweet as they could be....Mine has Cardinals all over itm and Red Balls, and a Plaid Ribbon that goes around it and little white lights! I have added little sweet ornaments over the years...But it is not a very tall tree, so one cannot add too much...My friend died in December 1990 of AIDS related illnesses and partly I put up my little tree in rememberence of him. But I habe had it since the mid 70's....!

Naomi,
That's sweet that the tree has become a mini-memorial to your friend.

Fearless mice? Why?

Hell, only thing that'll happen is they'll get eaten more quickly by the cat since they won't run.

That's wrong.
