Still Alive Up In Here
There's not much to say. I'm pretty much laying on the couch all the time on drugs waiting for my knee to heal. It was really bad yesterday. I think, what happened was, after the drugs kicked in on Friday I felt better and did too much. I have learned a hard lesson. I am much better today and actually slept 2 1/2 hours in a row once! Mostly, my sleep intervals are measured in minutes and I may suddenly doze off, so we haven't been able to do a lot of TV catch-up. I mean I need to be able to pay attention to watch "Heroes," but I guess we should try to get to it today. I'm also a bit depressed because the doctor said, "This could just be normal wear and tear." That doesn't sound good. That sounds like something that can't be fixed. It could be that a tendon in my knee has gone bad. If it doesn't get well, I will have to go back and they will drain fluid from my knee and that sounds perfectly hideous. And this chair is not good for long intervals, so it's back to the couch for me.

Normal wear and tear at 46? What were you before, a long distance marathon runner? Hope you get better soon, I know how you feel. Mrs. BB has a bad knee and autumn plays havoc with it.
I've taken many years of ballet and unfortunately, my first teacher, back in the late 60's was an Old School German insructor. She made us force our turn out. When my teacher in college kept reprimanding me for forcing my turn out, I explained all that and she told me that my knees were probably ruined.
Oh I hope you feel better very very soon....! Normal wear and twar....Hmmmmmm.
Well, I just read what you said above....Oh that is mean...I think a lot of dancers have some heavy duty problems....!Do take care and DON'T Overdo....!
Naomi,
~~I just looked her up and I think she's still alive, although her daughter took over the school. Her beautiful daughter had actually lived the dream (she was just a year older than I was) and gone off to New York to dance for one of the major companies but had to give it up for an injury (hmmmmmm) then went back to the small town where I was born and took over her mother's school. I dropped in during one of her classes in the early 90's when I was visiting my grandmother. One of my friends from my hometown saw her just this year at a charity event. I'm glad I didn't tell her that her mother ruined my knees!
Tendons, painful!
Good luck!
Sorry to hear about your knees. I have tagged you. Your ballet will come in handy with this one.
Geewits, I hope you're starting to feel better.
Drink lots of water. And if you can't do that, drink lots of beer :-)
Wait until you come to Canada and taste Canadian beer!
Lucky you, laying on the couch all the time on drugs. ;)
So it isn't gout??
casdok,
~~It's certainly not pleasant!
Lone Grey Squirrel,
~~I can't wait to check it out!
Josie,
~~I don't know. I had a boyfriend that was a beer snob and he'd always beat me to the bar and order two Molsons when he KNEW I wanted a Miller. I'm sort of anti-Molson because of that. But I'll try some others.
Scarlet,
~~The blood tests were sent out to a lab on Friday. I won't know anything until they get the results back.
