Wednesday night I'm over in Plano whooping it up with Jazz and having a blast. Today? It was not good. I woke up at 7:00 a.m. in AGONY. AGONY, I tell ya. Both of my knees felt like they had been broken. With a bat. It was not a good way to wake up. I was all "What the hell? Why am I dying? What's going on?" I took some Advil and thrashed about and moaned for a bit and finally went back to sleep. I woke up again around 9:00, same pain, more thrashing and moaning. I woke up again at 11:00 and just got up to try to walk it off. And it was HARD to walk. I didn't have another bad attack until 2:30 (while I was trying to nap of course) and then I had the worst of it at 9:00 p.m. tonight.

I think I have gout. And that makes perfect sense. Because I love beer and rich food. I'm going to try to get in to see my doctor tomorrow. The left knee pain has gone away and been replaced by left ankle pain. And I have been having an awful lot of toe cramps lately. Apparently it is caused by a build up of uric acid which causes sharp crystals to stab you all around your joints and cause HORRIBLE pain. Why do I always get these weird things? Gout! What am I, Henry the Eighth over here?

Oh no! I'm so sorry... hopefully your doctor can fix you up. Gosh, I knew someone who had gout a long time ago. Who was that? Ohhh, when I worked at the law firm back in the beginning of my career we had a client who had it. He was Drew Barrymore's uncle... weird.
Jeanette,
~~You don't hear about it much anymore, but I remember the dad having it on "My Three Sons." I tend to get archaic ailments. I had pleurisy in high school. To this day I've never heard of anyone having pleurisy! I always get weird stuff.
Henry the VIII...You crack me up!!
My husband has gout, but he still drinks beer and eats steak and seafood. It comes and goes but when it comes, it's bad. The pills really work, but they give you bad stomach cramps. I hope you feel better soon!
Thank God it's Friday, right??
Always thought gout was for rotund older English gentlemen drinking porto in 18th century novels, not sweet young things. ;o)
Scarlet,
~~I went to the doctor and they have to send a way the blood to test for gout so she gave me some anti-inflammatory and pain medication. She also said my bones were awfully close together (in the x-ray). I just say, "Owwwww."
Big Brother,
~~Me too!
Aww, that's no good! Well, hopefully it's not gout and instead something VERY easy to remedy.
Have a great weekend!
Tai,
~~Yes. I just need relief from the pain so I can sleep more than an hour at a time.
Geewits, if you can stand to drink it, water for gout is very helpful. Click on the link here and read all about it. It flushes everything out.
Keep us posted. I don't like to hear about you being in pain like that.
Cheers,
Josie
I had an attack of gout in my big toe a couple of years ago. It was excruciating, so I empathize. All I remember was don't eat liver or shellfish for the duration. They actually can't find much of a connection between gout and alcohol, despite the mythology, other then red wine because of the oxidants in it. Good luck and good health.
