The musical guests tonight on Letterman were Carole King and James Taylor. Just moments into Carole's singing, my whole body got a surge of brain feel-good juice (dopamine?). Her voice to me just feels right. Yeah, she's not a voice like Julie Andrews, Karen Carpenter or Barbra Streisand, but she has a special happy sound that I love. And maybe part of that is knowing that she writes all those songs. Her Album Tapestry, is the one album I wore out.
I have no idea when I bought the album the first time, but over the years, like albums tend to do, it got old dull and scratchy. So I bought another one. That one actually was doing fine but as you all know, the age of the turntable came to an end. Somehow, I was able to skip over the cassette stage and went straight from my second Tapestry to the CD version. I think it was probably one of my earliest CDs. I still have both of my albums and it's funny to look at them. It's obvious which one is older. Looking over the playlist, I can't help but smile. Every song is good. It's hard to pick a favorite because every song means something different to me, but I particularly love the song Beautiful. The chorus is sort of my mantra. Tapestry: a must-have classic in any music collection worthy of that name.
When I used to have vinyls, I was very careful handling them, used a top of the line record brush each time and changed my turntable needle regularly. Nevertheless, I may have worn out a few albums such as Led Zeppelin 4, Dark Side, Selling England by the Pound & Equinox.

Tapestry is one of my favorite albums of all time. It was also longer on the charts by far than any other.

If we still had vinyls, I'd have worn Marillion's Anoraknophobia. Yay for CDs.

Gee, I love both James Taylor & Carole King! Tapestry was the first album I bought myself. I always raided my brother's albums before.
I never actually wore any album out, but two albums jump to mind that I played over and over again:
Stevie Wonder's "Innervisions"
Bruce Springsteen's "Born to Run"
Now I will have Springsteen stuck in my head all day. Thanks! No...seriously...Thanks! I love that album! haha

I suppose I wore out some Rush and Billy Joel and U2 in the '80s...and maybe some Yaz and The Pretenders. Recent times see me wearing out The Jayhawks on the Itunes...
