My Pretend Mountains

A few times a year we get a weird purplish low wall of clouds. Today there was one in the east. When we get those I always pretend I live somewhere where there's a giant mountain range in the distance. I bet there really is a place that looks like that and they really are mountains. It's after 4:00 a.m. and I just finished my garage/Christmas sale signs and I was going to post about that and about poor Barney being attacked again last Friday (don't worry, he's NOT going back outside AND the neighbors paid for it) and about my favorite MOW lady being MIA and some other things, but like I just typed, it's after 4:00 a.m. And I just yawned.

Nice sky...and yes, they look like mountains in the distance.

I can't even pretend to see mountains in this town, but that's what vacations are for. I'd give anything to back to the White Mountains this winter!

Btw, what are you doing up after 4:00 am...and blogging, no less??

Imagine, I woke up at 4:30 am today...while you were just starting to catch some zzzs.

Gee, my daughter-in-law said the exact same thing about the cloud mountains in the sky when she was just here for Thanksgiving. :-)

I'm from Amarillo up in the high plains of Texas, and if you've ever been there, you know it's as flat as a pancake with nary a tree in sight, but...there's a whole mountain range, the Amarillo Mountains, underground! So I like to tell people I'm a mountain girl, then when they ask from where, I tell them about the Amarillo mountains. hee hee

Your pretend mountains kind of look like my mountains... the ones that burned last year. I'll have to post a picture for you and you can render the verdict. :)

I'm glad Barney is OK, whatever happened doesn't sound like he's having fun now.

I hope you got some good sleep... Zzzzz

I would feel very claustrophobic living in a place surrounded by a mountain range like that (unless it was just clouds...then I'd be okay) I'm not a big fan of mountains. But the photo is very cool

Love the photo, I see you took it at the top of a very small hill... it reminded me that I'm starting hills training next week :)

Scarlet,
~~4 am is when I stay up a little later than usual. 6 am is staying up late. And it's flat as a pancake here, too.

Carole,
~~That's so cool that your DIL thought the same thing. I'll have to check into this buried mountain thing.

Jammie,
~~I figured somewhere looked like that. Maybe a lot of somewheres. Barney is fine now with only a few antibiotics left. He misses outside but he gets to spend some time in the house now. We're still working on a system so he's not in the garage too long.

Xup,
~~Mountains give me vertigo, but it's fun to pretend sometimes that they are over there.

Urban,
~~Except for one street in Arlington which is due south of here (and that street is San Francisco steep), that's about as hilly as it gets here. Good luck with the new training. When I was in San Francisco, it hurt one leg to walk uphill and the other leg to walk downhill. I'm not sure what that means about my legs.

That is kind of scary looking...! It really does look like a mountain....! What makes these clouds form like that?
Oh well....! Get some rest....You have a BIG DAY COMING....!
